TMJ: Before bed or in bed? It may be that you are clenching or grinding during the day unconsciously. Please see a dentist who has been trained to make a hard plastic upper night guard that you can wear during the day.

TMJ pain at night: Tmj pain may be greater at night due to emotional stress built up during the course of the day causing the muscles to be tense and/or in spasm. Pain may also be greater at night due to clenching the jaw muscles or bruxism (tooth grinding).

TMJ pain: Likely grinding or imbalanced positioning if you sleep sideways and the jaw has pressure from a pillow. Teeth position can contribute to tmd symptoms.
