Yes: Yes, the most common side effects from the barium are gastrointestinal in nature. Most people feel nauseated but it can cause stomach cramping as well. The gastrointestinal side effects from barium usually resolve within 24 hours (at most). Symptoms longer than this or more severe typically should be followed up. Sorry for your pain.
