Dysphagia: Rarely There are many causes of dysphagia and your GI doctor can track them down. Neurological, thyroid, mechanical, diverticulum etc.

Not explanation: It would be unusual for even a fully ruptured cervical disc to cause frank dysphagia, and the answer is not within the spinal canal... Maybe neuromuscular disorder or some congenital process is a far better explanation.

Unlikely: Mild cervical disc herniation is unlikely to be a sole cause of clinically significant dysphagia. There are many tests besides the barium swallow that can help investigate the cause of dysphagia. Your doctor can evaluate which test is most appropriate for your symptoms.
