ORIF of ankle fx: Broken ankle repair sx is typically done open, and not arthroscopically. Open technique (orif) allows for accurate reduction of fracture deformity (ies). Even though surgical correction is done open, the operation is performed using fluoroscopy (c-arm guidance) to visualize the fracture (s) before & after reduction, and also visualize the fixation (plate/screws) while and after it is placed.
