Diagnosis: Bleeding can come from the prostate and be due to another process. It may be from the bladder. Patients over 50 should have a cystoscopy as the chance of bladder cancer increases. Blood can also be coming from the kidneys. A urologist can image the kidneys and also do blood tests to confirm the kidney function is normal.

Yes, but not common: Seeing gross bloody urine (gross heamturia) or few or some red bladder cell under microscope (microhematuria) is possible, but still not common for prostatitis while prostatitis has been commonly assigned to many men with some urinary symptoms such as some suprapubic discomfort, vague ache / pain in the perineum (between sac and anus), slow start of urine flow, slow urine flow, etc.
