CT may not have sufficient resolution to identify defects in the the lining of the urinary bladder that a cystoscopy can resolver. The procedure would also allow a biopsy for the tissue to be examined by a pathologist. It would be prudent to follow your doctor's advice. Wish you good health!

If you have acute prostatitis it has to be treated by antibiotics before cystoscopy. If you have hematuria and no acute infection the cysto can be done safely. Cysto is not done for acute prostatitis.
