Low glycemic foods: Low glycemic foods do not rapidly convert to sugar and so would be recommended to eat. High glycemic foods rapidly convert to sugar and so should be restricted. This is also affected by fiber, protein and fat content which all help to prolong the release of sugar and don't lead to spikes.
