Ask the Orthodontist: Ask the orthodontist to show you on the x-ray which teeth need to be extracted and why the teeth need to be extracted.

Your orthodontist: Should have provided both an explanation as to the rationale of their removal and also which teeth are to be removed. The oral surgeon that you will be referred to to remove the indicated teeth can also provide you with this information. The wisdom teeth are teeth that orthodontists almost always want removed due to their negative influence on tooth movement. Premolar teeth re also common to go.

Not necessarily: Whether or not teeth need to be removed will depend upon the cause and severity of your malocclusion, space available for alignment of your teeth, your age, as well as the technique used by your orthodontist as different dentists and orthodontists vary in their approaches to treatment.

Nope: Extraction of teeth is determined on a case by case basis by your orthodontist. Many factors are taken into consideration, including facial profile and the amount of room available in your jaws for the proper alignment of your teeth. Speak to your orthodontist regarding what is best for your situation.
