You can visit: A hand surgeon. In the er they are not going to perform a carpal tunnel release. I would suggest you try wearing carpal tunnel splints before performing a surgical procedure.

Nerve issue: Best to see your regular doctor, as far less costly, and, carpal tunnel or other arm nerve problems can best be treated in the outpatient setting. Do not worry, as appropriate treatment is indeed highly satisfactory.

Carpal Tunnel: There are multiple treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome, an unpredictable neurologic condition. Night splints, activity modification and injections are all conservative options, though surgical intervention may eventually be needed. An emg/nerve conduction study can help determine the severity of your cts.

Arm pain: Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common cause of wrist and hand pain. However, if your entire arm is in pain, i would consider looking for other causes. Nerve impingement in the neck or axilla (armpit) can cause severe arm pain. Tendonitis of the arm or forearm tendons can also cause arm pain. A good physical exam is necessary, and consideration of nerve conduction study is good idea if nerve involved.
