Muscles or organs: Many things cause abdominal pain. The gallbladder for example, located on the right upper side of the abdomen can have intermittent pain that comes and goes with certain triggers. Often associated with greasy or fatty foods, this pain may be unrelenting until the food is digested. Other times similar pain can be felt with recent exercise like sit-ups. See a doctor if it continues or gets worse.
