MANY CAUSES: Sharp achy pain left side of abdomen under the rib cage can be from the stomach due to an ulcer in stomach or duodenum, due to acute pancreatitis, or due to pain in the kidneys due to kidney stones or infection, or pain in the abdominal wall muscles.
