What happens if 40mg simvastatin is taken every other day instead of daily? does that mean it is working at the 20mg strength?

Probably: We usually recommend patients take their medications daily. The way to confirm if it is working or not is to take it every other day for 90 days, then recheck your labs. If the numbers are similar to daily lower dose, then you should be fine going forward.
