Can call Dr on video: Some common causes of lower back pain include: back muscle strain, back ligament sprain, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, urine infection, kidney infection, kidney stone, spinal tumor, cancer in the kidney or other places, fractured vertebra, fibromyalgia, other bacterial infection, etc... A man in his 60's with very uncomfortable back pain can see his doctor today or the ER.

Several causes: If there was any strain to the muscles before the pain began, it is worth trying ice packs alternating with heat to the area, plus Tylenol, & gentle stretches. If any urinary symptoms or bowel symptoms or fever you definitely need to be seen & evaluated
