You can't: Unfortunately, no one can make anyone do anything they don't want to. In spite of how much your mother loves you and you love her, the addiction of smoking is powerful. Your mother is going to have to come to the conclusion she has to quit on her own. Ask her to consult her doctor for his or her opinion on the matter.

Quit contract.: Smokers are very good at fooling themselves into smoking again. With a quit contract, the smoker has to answer to you, or to a group of friends, or to a group of people who are also trying to quit. Answering to others for one's indiscretions is difficult, and can help the quitter in his/her attempt.
