Cold sores: Yes keep your dentist appointment and have the dds evaluate your problem. Many things dds do today have little to do with tooth carpentry. Like soft tissue evaluations.

No: You can call them and ask them about your situation but your dentist maybe able to help you with your cold sore as well.
