An essential vitamin: Vitamin k is essential for our blood to form clots and stop us from bleeding. It may also be involved in bone health. Vitamin k is in kale, spinach, turnip greens, collards, swiss chard, mustard greens, parsley, romaine, green leaf lettuce, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. The bacteria in your intestinal tract make some vitamin k also.

An anti-coagulant: Vitamin k is an essential vitamin which acts upon the blood clotting chain. Deficiency is uncommon but can occur in the nutritionally deprived. Most normal diets supply this vitamin which is rich in leafy vegetables and cruciforms. Deficiency causes diffuse bleeding. Supplements are readily available and are also used in Coumadin (warfarin) overdose.
