Pain.: Have you tried a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. They can help with pain. Auricular (ear) acupuncture is also super for dental pain.

Just wait: You have tried the numbing gel without success. You have been taking over-the-counter pain med with limited results. There is little that you can do that you have not tried besides stronger pain meds or narcotic solutions needing rx. Just wait it out. It is a minor inconvenience.

Cold: Cold water, crushed ice, although it's only temporary. Try another numbing gel. Different otc formulations have different percentages of topical anesthetic. Read the labels for comparison.
