No, not necessarily: Most babies will start trying to climb stairs soon after learning how to walk. The range of independent walking can be between 9-18 months. Many will not enjoy army crawling-or what you may be concerned about in not climbing (except stairs). You can encourage climbing skills by allowing your baby to climb up & over padded cushions, mats or sturdy crates. Bottom line-not worrisome.
