Etoh: Don't know how much your friend consumes -so it is hard to say. Is the depression that is noted, yours or your friend's? Alcohol can worsen depression. I do know that if my body had a similar physiologic reaction that i just wouldn't drink.

Shakes: It may be that it triggers anxiety in his case. Also, there may be alcohol induced neuropathy that causes him to shake the way he does. This tells you that he is to stop consuming alcohol altogether.
