Good question: You have to be able to equalize the pressure in your ears in able to tolerate going to deeper depths. If you can't clear your ears- then you won't get used to it. Are you congested? Do you know how to do a valsalva manuver? Check it on u tube.

Ear pressure: No. You need to find the technique that works for you to balance/equilibrate the pressurebehind and in front of your ear drums. Try pinching your nose closed with mouth closed & exhale with all the power you can-if u hear ears "pop", success! practice! this process takes more times for different people.
