Maybe: You can help reduce weight by increasing your physical activity, and low-impact cardio may be better due to the duration of activity (run/bike/swim), rather than a few reps of squats, which will help build muscle and may 'exchange' fat weight for muscle weight. Short answer is calories burned must be greater than those consumed to lose weight. Good luck!
