It can, BUT: They r only helpful if positive, a negative ncs/emg does not mean it's not a nerve. Like drilling 4 oil, a dry well does not mean there is no oil below . Keep looking 4 cause, though many time these things eventually clear with no explanation.

Yes: Emg is the diagnostic test of choice when looking for a nerve injury. Though MRI, ultrasound look at structure, they do not assess nerve function. This is what EMG testing does, assess peripheral nerve function. It can also aid in evaluating severity, monitor healing, and provide some prognostic information
