Maybe Wellbutrin (bupropion): Wellbutrin (bupropion) is a good antidepressant and is less likely to cause weight gain than others. There are certain risks, though, and your doctor can assess these along with you. I would add that alcohol can contribute to weight gain also, and your additional patient information shows you routinely use this. It can also add to suicidal thoughts.

SSRI's can do that: Since the greatest concentration of seritonin receptors is in the gut, ssri's have a major effect on gastrointestinal systems - weight gain is often part of that. Unfortunately so do the other popular types - atypical & tricyclic. If you are taking medication now, discuss tapering with the doctor - do not stop on your own. Consider psychotherapy as an alternative or addition to meds at lower dose.

Depression: No best drug since individuals vary in their response to medications. Through trial & error, the medicine that works best is the one with fewer side-effects , better tolerability, ease of use & not affect u adversely whenb taken along with other meds. Some suggestions to discuss with your doctor can be wellbutrin, viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) or pristiq.
