A fasting blood sugar of 130 mg/dl considered as diabetic? How to make it normal?

Lifestyle changes!: That level is consistent with diabetes. The diagnosis needs another fasting or an A1c level checked (another lab to check glucose over 3 months) to confirm it and help guide your treatment. The foundation for managing diabetes is diet and exercise. Especially watch portion control, and cut out empty calories such as sodas. Be active! get close followup as dm is serious and meds may be needed too.

That is by definition Diabetes - IF confirmed with another fasting blood sugar. I would also advise the A1C test to see what your last few months average has been - and then checking this every 3 mos to follow progress - you DEFINITELY can get it down if you are overweight/obese and can lose weight - be more active, eat smaller/ lean protein containing meals, also avoid sodas- water is KING!!!

Wt loss & exercise: How much do you weigh? What is your fasting glucose? Losing weight, at least 10% of existing weight (unless you are underweight), and exercising vigorously at least 30 minutes a day, may reduce fasting blood sugar, or at a minimum keep it from going up. You must consult your doctor before you embark on wt loss and vigorous exercise.

With fingersticks: If the hands and fingers aren't clean and dry, home blood sugar readings may be inaccurate. Sugar on the fingers could end up falsely elevating blood sugar. A concomitant venous sample in lab could demonstrate a discrepancy. Also, the meter may be inaccurate. Eating before a fasting blood sugar may raise the blood sugar in someone with diabetes because it would not be fasting anymore.
