A member asked:

Are all diagnostic tests for intussusception done locally? what are they?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Intusception can be suspected by history & belly exam & diagnosed by ultrasound or an enema, preferably a controlled water pressure enema in the hands of a radiologist who can reduce the intussusception during the procedure.A hospital facility needs to have the personnel &equipment to do the work. If not the pt is sent to a site that can.Surgery will be needed if the reduction attempt fails.
