My 18mo baby, passed 1 red stool today. shes had 4days of diarrhea and a cough. she is on antibiotics- augmentin. she ate watermelon, some pasta sauce today. usg done didnt show intussusception. she is active. no more red stool.what could be wrong?

Red stool can be from the red food she ate. As she had diarrhea, foods may be moving through her intestines more quickly than usual and therefore the color remains.If she had the diarrhea starting after the Augmentin was started,the diarrhea could be from that antibiotic.If if recurs,I would recommend contacting her doctor.Red, jelly like stool can occur with intussusception;US may need repeating.
