Hello i have a white patch on the back of my tongue. i was wondering if you can help me diffrentiate between oral candida and leukoplakia.

TRY TO "REMOVE" IT: You should "wipe" the patch with a piece of gauze( or clean clothe). Leukoplakia (the lesion) will come out and you will have some bleeding where the "plaque" was. This could also be due to candida, but this condition would probably be all over the mucosa (numerous plaques). Keep in mind that any lesion in the back of the tongue could be cancerous. Watch!

Removal=candida: Oral candida can be wiped off with a cloth or a plastic spoon leaving a reddish base under the removed white tissue. If the white patch cannot be removed or wiped off, it usually is not candida.
