Endoscopy?: That would diagnose reflux, esophagitis (candida or otherwise), non-h.Pylori gastritis, and other possible problems.

Mouth pain: Candidate usually shows white patch in the mouth. Could be a reflux disease. Upper endoscopy can sometimes give clues. The other test they could do is esophageal ph monitoring.

Any ideas why a healthy 48yo male would have a thumbnail-sized red patch on tip of tongue for about 2 months? The only symptoms - burning feeling in the mouth and smooth papilae at the tip. Candida test came back negative and no sores are present?
