Need psych eval: This is painful for you. Please see psychiatrist for an evaluation. There are a number of conditions that can cause this. Regardless of what is used to treat your primary condition, i find that self-harm responds best to hydroxyzine, an old anthistamine that has a calming effect and does not cause weight gain. I generally recommend doses between 10 to 25 mg up to 4 times a day, but is sedating.

Painful & difficult: It sounds like you're in lots of pain. Some people in this situation do try to release it through self-harming activities. A psychiatrist can help by evaluating what's leading to your painful emotional states & self-harm. Treatment may or may not include medications, but psychotherapy is essential. Also, dialectical behavioral therapy can provide non-self-harming ways to deal with pain.
