Can you please explain why childhood obesity is so much more of a problem today than the 80's?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Inactivity in part: Multiple factors, i think. Easy access to cheap, unhealthy food. Massive portion sizes. Marketing of junk food directly to kids. Too much sugar in multiple forms. Too many sedentary distractions-tv, internet, video games to name a few. Too few safe places to play and exercise. I think all these things contribute to some degree.
