many possibilities: Cough is a reflex to clear the lungs but when it is severe or recurrent, an evaluation is necessary. It can be related to various infections (viral, bacterial, less likely fungus) including pneumonia or bronchitis. Recurrent cough can be related to stomach acid reflux. Sinus infection, allergies and asthma. A foreign body in the airway or esophagus can cause a severe cough.

See doctor: Agree with Dr. Zacharisen. If the cough has persisted for more than two weeks, it is imperative that you see a doctor. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
