A member asked:

Is it possible for blood work look normal but you still can have cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The routine blood tests screen for common blood related cancers such as leukemia. They do not screen for the solid body organ cancers such as lung, breast, prostate, gastrointestinal, brain. There are however certain markers in the blood that may suggest but do not prove there is cancer there. Overall the routine blood tests are not specific enough for the solid body organ cancers.
