They cant: The fluid mosaic model is not thought to prevent cancer. These cells are surrounded by a fluid–mosaic membrane that provides a dynamic barrier with the microenvironment, forming specific, functional domains. Lipid rafts, and receptor complexes may be altered in malignant cells but don't induce transformation as do viruses and carcinogens.
