Often: Glad you asked. Avoiding smoking makes you much less at risk for lung cancer, and less for several others. Using sunscreen greatly reduces melanoma and other skin cancers. Avoiding or treating hepatitis b / c virus / iron overload / alcohol abuse greatly protects from primary liver cancer. Not everybody agrees on diet, but the above are beyond dispute. Many cancers still strike at random.
