Cumulative damage: Cancer development associated with uv exposure takes time. In patients who develop skin cancers, the history of sun burns and sun damage is cumulative with significant insults occuring before the age of 20. Obviously ongoing uv exposure will compound the damage to the tissues and this is evident as seen by higher trends of skin cancer development especially as the ozone layer is depleted in areas.
