A member asked:

I usually never have hiccups and now all of a sudden i've had cases of hiccups 5 times today, why is this happening and what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hiccups: Hiccups may occur after eating too much or too fast, swallowing too much air, laughing or sudden excitement. acid reflux, alcohol, carbonated drinks or a sudden change in stomach temperature like when drinking something cold right after drinking something hot can trigger hiccups too. Persistent hiccups can be due to underlying medical conditions. See a doctor if it's lasting >1-2 days.
