Swelling reduction : Swelling is to be expected. It's unfortunate, but not uncommon. Application of ice ( 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off ) for 72 hours is a reasonable way to treat the symptom. After 24 hours, NSAID is ideal.

Natural or best?: 1. Nsaids such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what your doctor prescribes. 2. Ice on and off every 15 minutes first 24 hours only. Once it swells ice will decrease circulation which is what you don't want after first 24 hours. 3. Keep head elevated. (some dentists prescribe corticosteroids) your body and nature does the rest. It takes time.

Swelling: If swelling due to infected tooth, and the tooth was surgically removed, as with any infection/corrective-surgery there will be some swelling. Intermittent cold packs for 48 hours, followed by intermittent warm packs for another 48, antibiotics and/or anti-inflammatories, sleeping sitting up, may help. Ask the Dentist or Oral Surgeon that treated you for post-operative instructions.
