Normal swelling: Stiffness and swelling are 2 of the more common complains after ankle fusion. If the swelling is in the calf all the way to the foot, make sure you notify your surgeon. Make sure you are moving the toes and gently stretching your toes as well as icing and elevating the foot.

Yes: Since you aren't using that leg while fusion is healing its common to get stiff. Bend it at knee and hip to move those joints.

Yes: Sorry to hear, but it is normal during recovery from ankle fusion surgery to have stiffness of the surrounding joints.

It's common...: It will take a while for the other joints to regain their range of motion after a period if immobilization. Physical therapy or home stretching exercises will help speed up this process. Good luck.
