A member asked:

I have ra. is it necessary for me to take my meds once over a flair up? all the meds have a lot of side affects & pose more risk the longer you take

Risks and benefits: It depends on how often and how severe are your flare-ups. If they are frequent or severe, it would be better to remain on the medications to decrease both frequency and severity and prolong the development of RA complications. It sounds like your symptoms are either or both frequent and severe because you need 2 potent medications to treat your ra. Good question for your rheumatologist.

Stay on meds: Stay on your meds so you will not have these flares. It is continued disease activity that leads to joint damage and deformity. Once the damage occurs, it cannot be undone.
