Sore right side of my tongue. pain is excruciating. dental work done recently. what does this mean? help!

Lacerated tongue?: Perhaps you accidentally bit your tongue while you were numb or it might have been inadvertently cut during the dental procedure. Call your dentist, and have him\her take a look and then advise you how best to handle this. Suck on ice chips and take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you normally take for a headache. Avoid spicy foods. Orajel will numb the area as well.

More info please !: How recent was your treatment completed? Today? A week ago? Were you given injections to numb the area? Did you have any teeth extracted? Answers to these questions would help narrow down the possible causes. If the pain is excruciating, take otc pain meds and call your dentist as an emergency.
