Not likely: Esophageal cancer is a fast growing cancer and would likely be very advanced after 1.5 years of symptoms.

Upper airway dis: Throat clearing usually reflects inflammatory upper airway disease. A simple upper airway examination by ENT may reveal the source of the cough. Anti-inflammatory therapy may be helpful.
