Tinea cruris: Concomitant treatment of athletes foot may solve the problem. Sometimes a dr needs to differentiate jock itch from other conditions, such as intertrigo (irritation) & erythrasma (bacterial). A way to do this is to look for fungal hyphae under the microscope (koh or other stain). Topical steroid overuse & too much scratching is also a concern that your dr can address if it were the case.
