Off label use: That depends on your psychiatrist's level of comfort doing this. When I have used stimulants to treat depression I have tended to do it for hospice patients. It can be used for depression off label but is far from first line. I would discuss this with your psychiatrist.

Absolutely: I would recommend you limit your alcohol use to zero, however. If you have ever had problems with cocaine, you may be prone to escalate the stimulant dose, in which case your doctor would be forced to stop it.
