Not by itself: Risperdal is an antipsychotic medication, usually used for people with hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, thought disorder, etc. When someone's depression has psychotic features like these, medications like Risperdal can be added to an antidepressant. In some cases, it can also be used to "augment" antidepressant treatment in non-psychotic depression with anxiety -- but usually not by itself.
