A 37-year-old female asked:
Can a 9 week fetus look 7 weeks?

Maybe but not likely: You have to understand that the usual way to date is weeks from the menstrual period, which is presumed( but not always )2 weeks from conception. But, if a good ultrasound is done and the first third of pregnancy, it should be accurate to within 5 days, not 2 weeks off! if within 5 days, they way still go by the menstrual period or probable date of conception... Talk to your ob!
hope this helps.

A 37-year-old female asked:
What does a 7 week fetus look like can you describe?

Google it: Why don't you go to www.Google.Com and type in 7 week fetus and then look under images. That will get you a lot farther than any description i can provide. On ultrasound at 7 weeks it looks like a shadowy grey tube with 4 little arm buds, a yolk sac and maybe one can see an amniotic sac as well.

Concerning: It could be your dates are off or the baby is growing correctly. A repeat evaluation in 2 weeks will be able to tell.

A 32-year-old female asked:
Can a 8-9 week fetus measure big and be mistaken for a 12 week fetus?

No: The difference between 8-9 weeks pregnant and 12 weeks pregnant is very different on ultrasound. At this early stage, an ultrasound measurement is accurate to within a few days of how far pregnant you are.

Can a 6 week fetus be mistaken for a 7 week fetus? Is it more common the other way around?

Yes: Yes to all of your questions. The measurements are simply a "good estimate" or a guesstimate. The larger the fetus grows, the more accurate the measurements.
