Depends: Though it does seem a bit on the higher side for such a young kid, it is definitely almost within fda guidelines (risperidone max being 3 mg and Intuniv max being 4 mg but only above age 6). However, meds are adjusted based on symptom severity and depending on how bad the symptoms are, these doses might be needed, provided the kid is tolerating it ok.

ADD/ ADHD/PDD: If your child was evaluated by an md who is a neurologist, i think you need to follow his recommendation, watch any adverse effect. Most of the time dose is calculated according to the severity of symptoms. You can have a second opinion always, if you are not comfortable. I usually start with a lower dose, then titrate slowly over the time to a level on which the symptoms remain under control.
