A member asked:

With an mri are you able to see clear images of the cranial nerves to see if there is trauma or not?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

YES, MAY HELP: Some high resolution scanners do a very good imaging job, and often can even see tortuous blood vessel compression of trigeminal nerve causing tic douleureux. But if a problem occurs within the skull, might be better to check with cat scan. However, if no swelling, bleeding, or tumor, the films are not necessarily perfect, as nerve problems can exist without full visualization.
