Call the surgeon: These things although not typical, do happen. It may or may not warrant any further treatment. Only the surgeon who performed the procedure, after seeing it in person can answer your questions. Call the office, explain what you see and feel and ask whether or not he\she wants you to come in right away or wait until your next scheduled visit.

Depends on membrane: The main question here is whether or not there are other signs or symptoms associated with the exposure of the membrane. If there is minimal exposure, no swelling, pus, bleeding, pain, or irritation, your surgeon may recommend keeping the membrane clean to avoid infection and loss of the graft. If symptoms are present as well, the graft may already be infected, and the membrane may need removed.
