Complicated answer: Sometimes we do, but the studies are ongoing and the long term risks uncertain, so usually we do not. Biggest risk: causing confusing mammograms and needless biopsies/surgeries.

Some do: Autologous fat grafting can be used to increase breast size. Breast implants are more commonly performed and have a faster recovery.

Too Soon.: This is an area of great interest to many of us. However, many of us are reluctant to use fat until longer-term studies are out; issues such as potential confusion caused by fat grafts for patients undergoing mammography is one of the concerns. It is possible that fat grafting will become much more widely accepted and utilized in the future.

Natural Breast Aug: The answer is that there are several plastic surgeons that have been using fat transfer for breast augmentation. The major draw back is that most can only increase 1 or maybe at most 2 breast sizes. Our practice, pacific center for plastic surgery offers a natural breast augmentation using your own fat. We are in orange county california.

We do.: It is a growing field of practice and has some advantages and limitations. Using your own fat is rather safe and is being more commonly used but there are limitation in terms of size and shape that are not achievable by just doing fat grafting. You do get the added benefit of liposuction from other areas. Best to you!

They can: Autologous fat transfer is currently being used for breast augmentation and even breast reconstruction. With use of a brava system breast mounds can be recreated in mastectomy sites creating a bed more conducive to fat transfer from other parts of the body, typically the abdomen and thighs.
