Not necessarily: This would depend on where the breast cancer appeared in the spine. Most often these occur as metastases to the vertebra of the spine. These may be treated very effectively with surgery and radiation with very good local control. The status of the breast cancer in the rest of the body (ie. Are there other metastatic sites?) is the key to the overall prognosis. Also, molecular markers are important.
